Is This Applicable To Me?

Acts 20:24

Serving God without a vision is simpler, as is working for God without a calling, since one is unencumbered by divine expectations; common sense becomes the guiding principle, superficially adorned with Christian passion. You will achieve greater prosperity and success, and experience more leisure, if you remain oblivious to the call of God. However, if you are commissioned by Jesus Christ, the recollection of God's desires will persistently urge you; you will no longer be able to serve Him based solely on pragmatic considerations.

What is my true significance, dear? If I have not been captivated by Jesus Christ, I will regard service as precious, time devoted to God as valuable, and my life as significant to me. Paul asserts that he valued his life solely to accomplish the ministry entrusted to him; he declined to expend his efforts on any other pursuits. Acts 20:24 expresses Paul's profound irritation at being urged to prioritize his own welfare; he was entirely unconcerned with any considerations aside from the fulfillment of the ministry entrusted to him.

Practical work may compete with devotion to God, as it is predicated on the notion: "Recall your utility in this context, or consider the worth you would possess in that specific endeavor." Such an approach does not position Jesus Christ as the Guide for our direction, but rather relies on our own judgment of where we are most beneficial. Do not contemplate your utility; rather, always remember that you belong to Him, not to yourself.

1. Altruistic Commitment - Paul prioritizes his divine purpose over his own life.

2. Purpose-Driven Life – His foremost priority is to execute the ministry assigned to him by Christ.

3. Endurance in Faith - Paul underscores the necessity to "complete the course," emphasizing endurance in the face of adversity.

4. Divine Calling — His ministry is divinely appointed rather than self-initiated, demonstrating adherence to God's will.

5. Proclamation of the Gospel - The primary objective is to bear witness to the gospel, displaying dedication to evangelism.

6. Grace of God - The message he conveys is one of grace, highlighting God's unearned favor towards humans.
