Do You Possess Faith?

St John 16:30-31

We now assert that Jesus inquires - Do you? The moment approaches when you will abandon Me. Numerous Christian workers have abandoned Jesus Christ, engaging in labor driven by a sense of obligation or a perceived necessity stemming from their individual judgment. This is due to the lack of the resurrection of Jesus. The soul has severed its intimate connection with God by relying on its own interpretation of religion.

There is no inherent sin or associated punishment; however, when the soul comprehends how it has obstructed its awareness of Jesus Christ and generated personal sorrows and challenges, it must return with humiliation and repentance. We must depend more profoundly on the resurrected life of Jesus, cultivating the practice of always attributing all matters to Him, rather than merely making decisions based on common sense and seeking His blessing thereafter.

He is incapable; it lies beyond His jurisdiction, detached from reality. When we act out of a sense of responsibility, we establish a benchmark that competes with Jesus Christ. We transform into a "superior individual" and declare, "In this regard, I must undertake this and that." We have prioritized our sense of responsibility over the resurrected life of Jesus. We are instructed to walk in the light not of conscience or responsibility, but in the light as God is in the light. Actions performed out of duty can be substantiated by reasoning; however, actions taken in obedience to the Lord are beyond argument, which is why a saint may be readily mocked.

The following are the principal points of focus from John 16:30-31:

1. The Disciples’ Declaration of Faith — In verse 30, the disciples affirm their conviction that Jesus possesses omniscience and originates from God, recognizing His divine wisdom and power.

2. Jesus' Response to Their Faith – In verse 31, Jesus interrogates their assertion with, "Do you now believe?" implying that their faith, however genuine, will shortly undergo scrutiny.

3. The Omniscience of Jesus - The disciples acknowledge that Jesus requires no inquiries, since He is already aware of their thoughts and needs, so validating His divine essence.

4. Faith Amidst Adversity - Jesus’ rhetorical inquiry alludes to their imminent challenges, particularly since they would shortly disperse in trepidation at His arrest, underscoring the distinction between professed and tested faith.

5. Trust in Jesus' Divine Origin – Their assertion indicates an increasing comprehension that Jesus is genuinely from God, a fundamental tenet for His adherents.

6. A Call to Fortified Faith - Jesus’ remark prompts profound contemplation, reminding adherents that faith must withstand adversities and not solely rely on instances of clarity or solace.
