Destitute Ministry of Jesus
St John 4:11
"The well is profound" - and significantly deeper than the Samaritan woman comprehended! Contemplate the profundity of human nature and existence, and consider the depth of the "wells" within you. Have you been diminishing the ministry of Jesus to the extent that He is rendered ineffective? Imagine a profound well of distress within your heart, and Jesus approaches, proclaiming, “Do not let your heart be troubled”; however you respond with a shrug, stating, “But Lord, the well is deep; You cannot extract tranquility and solace from it.”
No, He will descend from above. Jesus does not elicit anything from the depths of human nature. We constrain the Holy One of Israel by recalling our past allowances and asserting, “Certainly, I cannot anticipate God to accomplish this.” The element that challenges omnipotence is precisely what we, as followers of Jesus, should have faith that He will accomplish. We diminish His ministry the instant we overlook His omnipotence; the deficiency resides within us, not within Him. We will approach Jesus as Comforter or Sympathizer, but we will not approach Him as Almighty.
The reason certain individuals exemplify inadequate Christianity is due to the absence of a sovereign Christ. We possess Christian qualities and experiences, yet there remains a lack of surrender to Jesus Christ. In challenging situations, we diminish His ministry by asserting, "Of course He cannot intervene," and we descend into despair, attempting to procure the sustenance ourselves. Exercise caution with the complacency of resigning to the notion that "it cannot be accomplished"; you are aware that it is achievable if you turn to Jesus. The abyss of your incompleteness is profound; nonetheless, exert yourself and direct your gaze towards Him.
Hers a bit of insight from St John 4:11
1. Discernment Against Deception * Exercise caution against the misuse of Scripture and misleading doctrines. * Familiarize yourself with God's Word in context to prevent being misled.
2. Rely on Divine Protection Without Provocation * God assures protection; but, we must not imprudently endanger ourselves to challenge His fidelity.
3. Awareness of Spiritual Warfare * Satan distorts Scripture to mislead; we must remain steadfast in truth. * Arm yourself with the complete armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-17).
4. Faith Over Fear * Rely on divine guidance instead of pursuing signs or miraculous evidence of His benevolence.
5. Humility and Submission to God * Jesus resisted the allure of prideful temptation and yielded to God's desire. We must eschew presumption in anticipating God to operate according to our stipulations.
